How to Securely Use Excel in Online Exams
Real Excel, remote and locked down, for accounting, economics, and finance.

Accounting, economics, and finance programs need to test real Excel skills, not a multiple-choice approximation of them. On-campus computer labs solve this by controlling the whole machine, but that doesn't hold once students sit exams from their own laptops at home. Institutions need a way to allow the genuine, already-installed Excel application during a remote exam, without opening the door to online lookups, saved cheat sheets, or a quick switch to outside help.

In TomaEtest, the exam is configured to allow the student's preinstalled Excel as an approved application for that assessment.
Student launches the exam in the locked-down Vix environment
The same lockdown used for every TomaEtest exam restricts the candidate's machine to the exam for the full sitting.
Excel runs, and only Excel
Students work in their own copy of Excel exactly as normal, while the lockdown blocks internet access, local saving or exporting, and every other app on the machine.
The work is captured as part of the submission
Whatever the student builds in Excel closes with the exam and is submitted whole, no separate file to upload or reconcile.
